When you are a professional photographer, family pictures aren’t just family pictures. They are serious business. Haha.
Poor my kids that have to put up with me. But I try to be as easy as I can because I’ve learned a few years ago how frustrating it can be when you have so many expectations and the end result is very different.
I know a lot of people do and love Fall family pictures but here at the Price family our session always happen during Summer time and it’s been about 3 years that we kind of started that.
Our Christmas cards have beautiful sunny, beach-y, flowery backdrops instead of orange falling leaves or snowy mountains. And we absolutely love that.

I already have the next year planned out.

I’m going to list a few reasons why we have chosen do Summer family pics instead of Fall family pics.
(And it doesn’t mean that one is better than the other. It just has worked better for our family)

1- my kids don’t deal so well with chilly weather. (For pictures anyways). You’d think they would be used to it since they live in Utah but nope! They do just fine if they are on our backyard and playing with friends. They don’t even care if they are wearing flip flops and stepping on snow. But when it comes to actually do pictures they turn into completely different kids and start complaining it’s too cold. 😒

2- Less articles of clothing to coordinate and think about. during Summer time, you can just have the kids wear a simple sundress, or shorts, or cute top. No need to go shopping for scarves, jackets, boots, etc.

3- More time to actually get your Christmas cards ready. I have a couple months to get my game in place instead of hurrying up through the crazy Fall season to get our session done and then Christmas cards ordered. (doesn’t necessarily mean I get those out in the mail sooner thou lol). Specially since I have family overseas, it really helps to get the cards done earlier so they get to our families in time.

4 – We get to do them every year in a different location and have completely different backdrops for our pictures.

And with that all being said, I think I never really shared our favorites from the last 3 years of family pictures. So here we go:
